about us

vision

WaysMeet provides care for body, mind, and spirit that is:
      * compassionate
WaysMeet practitioners, teachers, and facilitators are respectful of the preferences and responsive to the values of the people whom we serve. We bring to our work at WaysMeet our own life experiences, our intuition, our creativity and our careful listening. Believing that we all have the capacity to be sources of healing for ourselves and others, we offer our guidance and support to each other and to those for whom we provide care.

      * competent
WaysMeet practitioners combine skills and knowledge about conventional approaches to health and disease with specific training in one or more alternative modalities. WaysMeet teachers and workshop facilitators bring extensive experience in their various fields to their offerings. Valuing both reflection and research, we serve as a resource for further study of the methods we offer and for the education of future health care professionals.

      * complementary

WaysMeet practitioners offer approaches that complement the care provided by physicians and other health care providers. To ensure integration of all aspects of your health care, we pledge prompt and clear communication with you and, with your permission, with the others involved in your care.

      * community-oriented
We believe that healing happens in community. We work together and are eager to collaborate with others interested in health care and education. In addition to opportunities for individual consultation and treatment, WaysMeet offers classes and workshops that bring people together for mutual sharing and support. We seek creative ways to work with groups and organizations in the service of healing our families, our communities, and the wider world.

name
WaysMeet is a word that has been used for years in the British Isles as the name for a house or building at an intersection of roads. It reflects our interest in bringing together diverse approaches to healing.

logo
Our logo is based upon a traditional quilt pattern, Endless Chain, listed in Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns as block #1278 and first published in 1976 in the Progressive Farmer. It is similar to older patterns such as Job's Tears and Rocky Road to Kansas, all derived from Double Wedding Ring like patterns first used in the early 1800s. In choosing this logo, we honor our quilting foremothers' creativity and practicality. We selected this particular pattern to echo the flow, openness, and sense of elements coming together that we bring to our work at WaysMeet. We appreciate the wonderful way in which Sara Thilman of Flying High Design translated out ideas into images and developed the WaysMeet logo and website design. Thanks to Patrick Flannery-Reilly for his assistance with photographs for this site.
